Switch from Trakt

Coming from Trakt?

Bring your Trakt history to the Movie Paradise app with the export file Trakt gives you. Nothing gets connected, so it doesn't use your free Trakt app slot.

Importing is free on every account.

About Trakt's one-app limit

Since July 22, 2026, free Trakt accounts are limited to one Community App connection, so a free account that already uses an app can't authorize another one. Importing your export file connects nothing, so it doesn't need that slot.

What comes over

From the export file, in one upload:

  • Watched movies and episodes, with their original dates
  • Rewatches, each with its own date
  • Ratings for movies, shows, seasons and episodes, on Trakt's 1 to 10 scale
  • Your watchlist of movies and shows
  • Favorites
  • Your lists, with public lists kept public
  • Shows you hid from your Trakt progress, as Dropped

Comments, your collection, notes and playback progress stay on Trakt.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Export from Trakt

Go to trakt.tv, sign in, then go to Settings, Data, and click Export. Trakt generates a .ZIP file you can download immediately. It contains your watched history, ratings, watchlist, favorites, and lists.

  2. Step 2: Open the importer

Sign in or create a free account, go to Settings, then Import, and pick Trakt.

  3. Step 3: Upload the .zip as it is

Upload the ZIP as is. Do not unpack it. Then choose what to bring in: Watched history, Watchlist, Ratings, Favorites, Personal lists, and Archived / hidden.

  4. Step 4: Check what came over

The import runs in the background. When it's done you see a summary and a list of any titles that didn't match.

Import or sync?

Import

Free

Upload your export once. You get your full history, every play with its date, and nothing is connected.

Trakt sync

Premium

Connect your Trakt account and keep both in step. What you do here goes to Trakt right away, and changes on Trakt come in every hour, or sooner with a manual sync.

They do different jobs: the export file carries every play with its own date, while sync reads the latest watch of each title. On a free Trakt account, sync counts as your one Community App.

What's different here

Trakt comments, too

The Discussions tab on movies, shows and episodes includes Trakt comments next to Movie Paradise ones.

Web, iPhone, iPad and Android

One account everywhere, including the web app at movieparadise.app.

Up Next and a release calendar

Up Next lines up the next episode of every show you're watching, and the calendar shows what's coming for the shows and movies you follow.

Your data stays yours

Download a copy of your library from Settings, up to once every 24 hours.

Questions

Do I need to connect my Trakt account to import?

No. You upload the export file and nothing is connected. Your Trakt account stays exactly as it is.

Does this use my free Trakt app connection?

Importing doesn't. Since July 22, 2026, free Trakt accounts are limited to one Community App connection, and an import connects nothing. Trakt sync does connect, so on a free Trakt account it counts as that one app.

Is it free?

Importing is free on every account. Trakt sync is part of Premium. A free account keeps up to 9 lists.

Are my rewatches kept?

Yes. Trakt's export from its Data settings lists every play, so each rewatch comes over with its own date. If you marked a whole season as watched again in one go, those plays may not come over as rewatches.

I already track some titles here. What happens to them?

They keep their status, rating and date. Episodes and rewatches from the file are added, and your Trakt favorites are marked.

What doesn't come over?

Comments, your collection, notes and playback progress. Lists and the watchlist bring their movies and shows; episodes or seasons saved there are left out.

Can I keep using Trakt?

Yes. An import doesn't change your Trakt account. With Premium, Trakt sync keeps both in step, in both directions.
